MEET ITCHY FEET FAMILY
Itchy Feet Family is an Australian travel blog based in Adelaide, sharing real-world travel experiences from more than 49 countries (and counting).
Launched in 2016, the blog began as a family travel journal and has grown alongside life itself. As the years have passed and circumstances have changed, so too has the way we travel — from adventures with young children, to travelling with teenagers, to couple getaways, and now solo travel as a woman in her 50s. Because travel doesn’t end at any stage of life — it simply evolves.
A Life Built Around Travel
Travel has always been part of my story. My first overseas trip was to the USA as a teenager, and by my twenties I had discovered the world of frequent flyer points, travelling extensively around Australia and overseas. Work opportunities later took me to live in Washington DC and London, opening the door to even more exploration.
Before children, my travels included:
Family Travel, Teen Travel and Everything In Between
When children came along, the adventures didn’t stop — they adapted. My son took his first flight at six months old, and over the years our family travel has included:
Cruising has also played a big role, with sailings on Cunard, P&O, Holland America, Carnival and more, departing from Australia, the UK and the USA, and visiting destinations across Europe, Alaska, Asia, Central America and the South Pacific.
Travel Through Change
Like many people, the past decade has brought significant life changes — including divorce, new relationships, and a growing sense of independence. Through it all, travel remained a constant.
During the COVID years, travel shifted closer to home, with extensive exploration of regional Australia. As borders reopened, international travel returned strongly, with trips throughout Asia, Europe and the Pacific.
In 2025, travel included Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Europe and Australia, embracing both independence and curiosity. Looking ahead to 2026, plans are already in place for Japan, Canada and the United States — because there is always another adventure waiting.
Why I Write
With a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) and a lifelong love of storytelling, writing and travel have always gone hand in hand.
